MHS wrestlers improve to 16-1

The Mathews High School wrestling team suffered its first loss of the season to Parry McCluer (41-39) in their first match of the day at Saturday’s Franklin Duals.

In addition to the win over King William, Mathews also took down Windsor (66-6), Norfolk Collegiate (66-6) and Lancaster (54-21) to improve its season record to an impressive 16-1.
The MHS wrestlers were back in action on Wednesday night at Middlesex, squaring off against the host Chargers as well as Lancaster in a regional preview. On Friday and Saturday, Mathews will travel to Williamsburg to compete at Lafayette High School’s 38-team Ram Rumble.
