The Mathews High School wrestling team traveled to the Northern Neck on Saturday to compete in the Lancaster Duals, placing second out of 13 teams with wins over L.C. Bird, Windsor, Bethel and Northampton, before falling in the championship contest to Tabb, 46-30.
The MHS wrestlers won by scores of 57-21 against L.C. Bird, 58-24 over Windsor, and 45-33 to both Bethel and Northampton.
The three Mathews Wrestlers who remain undefeated so far this season are Ivan Schaible, Salvador Cardenas and Zac Salvadori. All of these wrestlers were awarded their gold medals from this tournament, along with two silver medalists
Franklin Cardenas and Jesse Monastyrly.
The MHS wrestlers will return to the mat on Saturday, Jan. 4 when the Blue Devils host the Mathews Invitational, starting at 10 a.m.
