The Mathews High School volleyball team will hold tryouts starting Monday, July 31. The varsity team will hold tryouts in the MHS gym from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Junior Varsity tryouts, also at MHS gym, will be from 5:30-7:45 p.m.
Teams should be finalized by Aug. 4 and practices will continue daily at the same times until school starts. Then, varsity will practice from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. and JV will remain the same. Any athlete with experience is encouraged to try out for varsity.
Athletes must have a VHSL physical in order to participate in tryouts. There are additional forms to fill out and all forms are available at the school’s main office.
Coach Taylor Kostyal will be returning for her second year as the head JV coach. Pat Moughon will return as varsity coach with assistants Sarah Brown and Jes Deamer. Any questions, call Moughon at 804-815-8673.
