MHS volleyball falls to Chargers, defeats Trojans

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team suffered a loss against Middlesex, but gained a win over Essex this past week of game play.
The Lady Devils fell to the Middlesex Chargers in three sets last Thursday on the road (25-7, 25-8, 25-9). Addy Lowe, Angel Shultz, Abigail Ramsey, Nora Suthard and Addison Griffith never missed a serve. Bentlea Lawrence had the highest passing average with a 1.47.
Mathews traveled to Essex Monday night to take its second win of the season against the Trojans in five hard-fought sets (25-21, loss; 25-17, win; 25-22, win; 25-17, loss; 15-10, win). Lowe and Ramsey both had perfect serving averages for the night. Lindsay Coons had a 1.38 passing average and Kristin Blake had the highest hitting average with a .235.
The Lady Devils will play again Tuesday night at home against Northampton.
