Mathews High School is excited to welcome back another season of volleyball action.
This year, the team is being led by four skilled seniors—Autumn Jenkins, Chloe Schaible, Lillian Jarosz and Whitney Stewart. Also in the lineup are juniors Kristen Blake, Angel Shultz, Lindsay Coons, Hailey Denkinger and Grayson Griffith; sophomores Anna West, Emily Coons, Addison Lowe, Nora Suthard and Abigail Ramsey and freshman Addison Griffith and team manager Cydney Chilton.
“I hope to see big improvements as the season progresses,” said head coach Pat Moughon. “I am having a difficult time coming up with the starting lineup; lots of girls are showing potential.” Assistant coach Sarah Brown, the starting setter on the 2017 state championship team, has returned for another year of helping the current team’s setter. Assistant coach Jes Deamer is also back as a volunteer after several years of helping with the junior varsity and varsity teams.
