The Mathews High School boys’ track team placed fourth out of 10 teams competing in last Thursday’s meet at Charles City High School, while the MHS girls came in eighth. Meanwhile, the MHS JV girls placed third out of eight teams in the meet’s junior varsity contest.
For the boys, Donovan Forrest placed first in both the 110-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, with times of 15.65 seconds and 11.42 seconds, respectively. He placed second in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 23.56 seconds.
The boys’ 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams also won their events. The 4x400 team of Gavin Dustin, Adam Greve, Seth James and Keith Taylor posted a time of 3:45.25, while the 4x800 team of Jon Jenkins, Samuel Miranda, Dominic Winters and James
Allen Morgan finished their race in 9:52.39. Taylor came in second in the triple jump with a leap of 39’1”, while Dustin placed third in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:01.02.
