The Mathews High School outdoor track team opened its season Tuesday with a meet at West Point High School.
The JV girls (Adriana Forrest, Meredith Salvatori and Kate Small) won their meet, while the varsity girls and boys placed second.
Highlights of the meet included Nora Suthard winning the triple jump, high jump, 400m and 300H, Elizabeth Moore won the 1600m and was second in the 800. Shalan Deese was third in the high jump. Donovan Forrest won the 110HH, 300H, 100m, and the long jump. Gavin Dustin won the 800m and the high jump and was second in the triple jump. Jon Jenkins won the 3200m. Sam Miranda was second in the 1600m. Ivar Golden, James Allen Morgan, Lincoln Williams, Jacob Johnson all scored.
Mathews track is scheduled to compete Saturday at the Charles City Invitational.
