Elizabeth Moore and Nora Suthard turned in first-place performances for the Mathews High School girls’ track team, while Donovan Forrest, Gavin Dustin and Jon Jenkins took first in events for the boys at last Wednesday’s meet at King and Queen High School.
MHS track athletes competed against competitors from Denbigh, Essex, Middlesex, Westmoreland and the host K&Q Tigers at the meet.
Moore came in first in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 12:23.66, while Suthard placed first in both the long jump (15’11”) and triple jump (31’10.5”) events. Suthard also came in second in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 56.21 seconds.
Forrest won the boys’ 100-meter dash with a time of 11.54 seconds and the 110-meter hurdles (15.41 seconds). He placed second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.87 seconds.
Dustin came in first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.1, while Jenkins won the 3,200-meter run (11:21.02), beating out second-place finisher and teammate Ivar Golden (12:01.1...
