MHS track athletes put in strong performances

Mathews High School track and field athletes competed at Rappahannock High School on Wednesday, April 10, along with teams from Essex, West Point, Northumberland and the host Raiders.
For the girls, sophomore Nora Suthard continues to dominate, winning the 100m, long jump and triple jump and third in the high jump. Freshman Jordan Sadeq finished fifth in both the 100H and 300H. Alivia Garrett finished fifth in the shotput. One girl to watch is eighth grader Elizabeth Moore, who finished second in the 1600m in a photo finish.The boys won their meet. Donovan Forrest continues to dominate the hurdles, winning both the 110H and 300H qualifying for states in the 300H. He also won the long jump and the 100m. Salvador Cardenas and Sam Miranda finished first and second, respectively, in the 1600m. Colin Moore won the 400m. Gavin Dustin won the 800m.
