MHS track athletes compete in Charles City Invitational

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ track teams competed in Saturday’s Charles City Invitational, with the boys placing eighth overall out of 19 competitors, while the MHS girls placed 15th as a team in a field of 23.
Highlights of the meet included Nora Suthard placing second in the girls; long jump and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles. Elizabeth Moore placed fourth in the 1,600-meter run and seventh in the 800-meter run.
For the boys, Gavin Dustin was fifth in the 800m and seventh in the high jump. Keith Taylor placed fourth in the triple jump. The Devils’ top finisher was Donovan Forrest placing fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and first in the 110-meter hurdles in a state-leading time of 14.97 second among all classes (1-6).
The track teams are scheduled to compete in a meet this afternoon, Thursday, March 27, at King and Queen.
