Lyla Duff won her match by an 8-0 margin last Wednesday, as the Mathews High School tennis team defeated Northampton Yellow Jackets, 7-2.
In the final match before Spring Break, the Mathews High School girls’ tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over the visiting Northampton Yellow Jackets.
Singles winners for Mathews included Chelsea Lowe (8-2), Lily Jarosz (8-0), Lyla Duff (8-0) and Jayda Thomas (8-2). Liberti Carter and Ella Ward teamed up to earn an 8-2 win in doubles play.
“I’m very appreciative of the work ethic the girls bring to practice,” coach Jon Hatch said. “We had to move the lineup around due to injuries and everyone has stepped up and given their best.”
Mathews tennis resumes on Wednesday, April 12, when the girls travel to West Point to face the Pointers.
