In the girls’ final game before Spring Break, the Mathews High School tennis team crushed the visiting Middlesex Chargers, 9-0, last Wednesday. The match was highlighted by a stirring come-from-behind victory by #1 seed Lyla Duff, above. Down 6-1 in the eight-game pro set, Duff rallied to come back and secure the win with a 9-7 match tie-breaker. Singles wins were also recorded by Liberti Carter, below, Ella Ward, Jayda Thomas, Delaney Boatman and Rayann Helbig, with the doubles teams of Duff/Carter, Ward/Boatman and Thomas/Helbig also posting wins.
