Mathews High School’s students of the month for February are eighth grader Leah Hyde, freshman Jamie McDevitt, sophomore Brandon Webb, junior Morgan Stearns and senior Gavin Dustin (clockwise from top left). Students are chosen from nominations by a committee of faculty members who evaluate academic standing, attendance, completing work on time, and character. At the end of the school year, a student of the year is named at each grade level, chosen from the monthly winners. December and January were combined since both ended up being short months, according to the school’s guidance department.
