Mathews Broadband Advisory Board chair Judy Rowe shared a video with county supervisors at the board’s June 20 meeting that focused on success stories about broadband.
Produced by Mathews High School students Shane Norris and Timothy Dehoux under the leadership of MHS CTE coordinator Randy Applegate, the short video showcases professional photographer Phil Dunn, who said he relocated his home-based business to Mathews seven-and-a-half years ago, but didn’t have access to high-speed internet.
Dunn said he generates 10,000 to 12,000 photos a day that need to be edited and uploaded, and he had tried satellite and other methods, but “nothing produced the speed I needed.”
“I was so frustrated, I jumped at the chance to join the broadband advisory board,” he said, “and it was very well-organized and well-run.”
