The Mathews High School soccer teams traveled to West Point last Wednesday, with the varsity boys’, varsity girls’ and JV squads all falling to the Pointers.
Varsity girls
The varsity girls scored the only goal of the night for all three Mathews teams, but still lost to West Point, 3-1. The lone Mathews goal came from Adelle Hudgins, off an assist from Hailey Denkinger. Eight total shots were taken on goal during this game—three by Denkinger, three by Suki Zheng, and one each by Hudgins and Shelby Ray. The Lady Devils’ record now stands at 0-10; they were scheduled to travel to Northumberland yesterday, Wednesday, May 3.
Varsity boys
The MHS boys lost to the Pointers, 6-0. In spite of the loss, Mathews keeper Logan Kostyal came up with a multitude of saves. The loss drops the team’s season record to 5-7. Their next game will be home today against Lancaster High School, starting around 6:30 p.m.
JV Devils
The JV Devils fell to the Pointers last week, 3-0. Only two shots were taken on go...
