Entering the 2024 soccer season, the Mathews High School JV and varsity boys’ teams kicked off their season on Monday, March 11, at Rappahannock High School.
The MHS JV team only has 10 players, having to pull a few players from either varsity team. Three freshmen from the girls’ varsity team volunteered to add a few numbers to the roster, making the team eligible to play a game. The players that went down were Lauren Johnson, Caitlen Hudgins and Ashton O’Leary. The Devils allowed 11 goals with a final score of 11-2. Lauren Johnson scored both goals, early on in the first half.
The varsity boys followed right after JV contest. The MHS varsity boys fell to the Raiders, 4-2.
