Mathews High School’s boys basketball team traveled to King and Queen Friday night to face the Tigers and came out on the losing end of a 55-45 score, missing a chance at post-season play and ending a disappointing season.
Although Mathews didn’t have as great a season as it had hoped for, the Devils will return a lot of young talent next year hoping to have major improvements.
Leading scorer for MHS was Gio Aromin with nine points followed by Xavien Boone with eight points. Dayshon Williamson, Deon Blake, and Deondre Foster added six points apiece. Also scoring for Mathews were Chris Perreault and Cody Kelly with four points each and Taiwan Forrest with two.
Jayvee Devils
The jayvee Devils, meanwhile, ended the season on a positive note, edging the Tigers on Friday night, 34-28.
