MHS runners dominate at home

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams defeated their opponents with team scores of 35 and 19, respectively, at their home meet last Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Beaverdam Park. The Mathews runners competed against teams from Essex, King and Queen, Lancaster, Middlesex and Northampton.
Gavin Dustin finished the meet second overall with a finishing time of 16:51. Next for Mathews was Seth James with a time of 17:37, followed by Blake Hunley (17:43), Jaxon McDonald (18:51), Ivar Golden (19:12), Adam Greve (19:43), Colin Moore (19:53), Chance Higginbotham (JV) (20:05), Cole Christensen (JV) (20:09), Lincoln Williams (JV) (21:33), Marvin Ouma (JV) (21:43) and James Morgan (JV) (21:59).
For the girls, Elizabeth Moore finished first overall with a time of 22:06 with Lauren Johnson close behind her, finishing the race at 22:20. Next for Mathews was Paige Morris (JV) with a time of 23:37, followed by Lorena Carballo (24:00), Baylee Bell (24:06), Morgan Stearns (25:00), Jordan Sa...
