The Mathews High School junior varsity volleyball team fell to the visiting Colonial Beach Drifters in straight sets in a home game Tuesday night.
Both sets were full of many digs, aces, and kills. Delaney Boatman had two digs and Carter Hayes, one. Marley Brock served two aces followed by Harmony Smith and Hayes each serving one. Marley Brock led the team in kills with three; Vanessa Boyd and Hayes had one kill apiece.
Mathews will travel to Northumberland today, Thursday, Sept. 5, to face the Indians. On Tuesday, the MHS girls will play another road game at Charles City, with the next home game on Sept. 17.
