Mathews High School indoor track opened its season with a pair of Lampert Timing Indoor Track meets on Dec. 5 and 11 at the Boo Williams Sportplex, Hampton.
In the Dec. 5 meet, the MHS boys’ varsity team placed fourth overall with 80 points, behind Norfolk Academy (120 points), Catholic High School (96) and Northeastern (88), beating out fifth place West Point (52 points).
The MHS varsity girls, meanwhile, tied with Catholic for third place (56 points), behind Norfolk Academy (147) and Northeastern (69).
On Monday, the MHS varsity team placed second with 81 points, behind Currituck County (99), while the varsity girls came in fifth (48 points), behind Trinity Episcopal (76), Currituck (69), John A. Holmes (67) and Northampton (52).
