The Mathews High School golf team picked up its first win last week, beating West Point, 231-248, on Aug. 23 at the Piankatank River Golf Course in Hartfield, according to coach Wayne Lewis.
The team’s low scorer was Chase Ambrose, who finished the day with a 51. Other counting scorers were Ben Stroud, Bryce West and Soles Small.
The team was scheduled to face Middlesex on Wednesday at the Piankatank River Golf Course. A match planned for this past Monday against King William and Rappa-hannock was rescheduled to Sept. 14.
