MHS girls post 1st win in program’s history

The Mathews High School varsity girls’ soccer team scored its first victory in the program’s history last Wednesday, beating North-umberland on the road last Wednesday, 3-1.
Adelle Hudgins scored two of the MHS goals, with Hailey Denkinger scoring the other.
Last Wednesday’s matchup was the third game between these two squads. The Indians had no subs for this game, as some of their teammates were recovering from injuries. The MHS girls went into the game with communication and strong passes flowing through the field.
Northampton
On Monday, the MHS girls hosted Northampton. In this second-to-last game of the season, Mathews fell to the Yellow Jackets, 8-0. Hudgins led the MHS girls in shots on goal, with four, and Denkinger with three.
Mathews will conclude its inaugural season on Monday when the Lady Devils host Middlesex, starting at 6 p.m.
