MHS girls fall to Panthers, 42-33

The Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball season came to an end Tuesday night, with the Lady Devils falling to the visiting Charles City Panthers, 42-33.
Tuesday night’s tripleheader started off with the JV boys, then a ceremony congratulating the seniors of the MHS winter sports season—including Lady Devils Zoe Camp, Trinity Reynolds and Laura Rowe, who played their last games for Mathews.
Camp, Reynolds and Rowe were team captains and ultimately led the team in points and defense in the game. Camp walked away with the most points on the night for MHS with nine.
The Devils and Panthers fought hard in the opening minutes, with Charles City going into halftime up, 17-13. Mathews played a strong man-on-man defense to keep it close.
