MHS girls fall to Middlesex in regionals, 11-6

The Mathews High School varsity softball season came to an abrupt end last Thursday night at Middlesex, as the Devils fell to the Chargers in the Region 1A quarterfinals, 11-6.
Morgan Crittenden ended the day with a triple, two RBIs and one run scored. Avery Thomas had two singles and an RBI. Aly Jackson had a double and a run scored. Reese Brock contributed a single and double. Ashton Hudgins had a double and a run scored. Chelsea Armistead hit a pair of singles. Angel Shultz ended the day with a single, two RBIs and a run scored. Addy Lowe had two runs scored.
“I deeply appreciate the game days’ support from our fans, the knowledge and daily dedication of our coaching staff, the patience of our AD and administration … and most importantly the grit and determination of our girls towards making our season a successful one,” head coach JJ Ashberry said.
