MHS girls drop 3 games

The Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team came up short in recent action, falling this past week to King William, Rappahannock and West Point.
Mathews hosted King William on Friday, falling to the Cavaliers by 10 points, 54-44. Reese Brock led Mathews with an outstanding 24 points, followed by Sarah Ashbaugh with 10, Lyla Duff with three, Lindsay Coons and Kayla Carr with two points each, and Avery Thomas with one.
Mathews traveled to Westmoreland County on Saturday, with the Rappahannock Raiders dominating the Lady Devils, 52-15. Olivia Ashbaugh and Serenity Forrest scored four points each to lead Mathews scorers, with Thomas and Sarah Ashbaugh adding three points apiece and Kayla Carr with a free throw.
