MHS girls beat West Point in Senior Night game

In the team’s final regular season home game, the Mathews High School varsity volleyball team quickly got to work, after taking out time out to honor seniors Lindsay Crigler and Casey Parrish, by beating West Point on Tuesday night in three straight sets. Mathews won by scores of 25-6, 25-12 and 25-20.

Mathews had little problem dispatching the visiting Pointers in the first two sets. In the third set, the Devils struggled as the girls missed numerous serves, but they kept their composure to finish the three-set sweep.

Both MHS seniors had good nights, with Parrish racking up 18 kills, seven aces and two digs, while Crigler led the team in assists with 20 and also recorded two kills, five digs and an ace. Other standouts included Rachel Close (eight digs) and Kacie Austin (five aces and one kill).

Mathews (7-0) finishes the regular season tonight at Middlesex (6-1). If the Devils should lose to the Chargers, they would have to face Middlesex again in a one-game playoff in...
