MHS cross country teams place first, second at meet

The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams placed first and second, respectively, during a Sept. 10 meet held at West Point High School.
Gavin Dustin placed first overall with a time of 17:50. Seth James placed third overall with a time of 18:35. Adam Greve finished next for Mathews with a time of 18:56, followed by Blake Hunley (19:20), Zachary Salvadori (19:21), Jon Jenkins (19:47), Samuel Miranda (20:23), Ivar Golden (20:53), Cole Christensen (JV) (20:57), James Morgan (24:27), Marvin Ouma (JV) (26:41) and Lincoln Williams (26:57). The boys finished with a team score of 19.
In second place, the Mathews girls finished their race with a team score of 45. Elizabeth Moore placed second overall with a time of 23:18. Next for Mathews was Lorena Carballo with a time of 24:51, followed by Lauren Johnson (25:41), Morgan Stearns (26:38), Paige Morris (JV) (26:57), Lyla Duff (27:50), Jordan Sadeg (27:58) and Rayann Helbig (35:57).
