MHS boys post 4-2 win over Lancaster

The Mathews High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated the visiting Lancaster Red Devils Tuesday night, 4-2.
It was a close game from the start, as the two teams were knotted up, 1-1, going into halftime. Seth James put the Devils on the scoreboard with a goal early in the first half.
Second-half scoring came from Salvador Cardenas, Franklin Cardenas and Andrew Greve to seal the victory.
With the win, the Blue Devils are ranked third in the region with a 6-7 record. The MHS boys were due back on Ken Brown Field again on Wednesday against King and Queen High School, starting at 5:30 p.m. The team winds up the regular season with an away match against Carver Academy on Monday and a home contest against Middlesex next Wednesday against Middlesex, starting at 7:30.
