MHS boys beat Pointers, fall to Panthers; Cosby joins 1,000-point club

Varsity boys’ basketball team defeated West Point on Friday night, traveling to Bruton on Saturday for the Chase Your Dreams High School Showcase. Although the Devils fell to the host Panthers, 60-51, the game began with MHS senior Jordyn Cosby becoming the newest member of the 1,000-point club, joining teammate Tre Greene, who reached the milestone last week.

On Friday night, the MHS varsity boys remained unbeaten in the Tidewater District with a 66-50 win on the road against the Pointers. Mathews scored the ball with ease in the beginning of the game as Cosby and Greene commanded the MHS offense. The first quarter ended with Mathews controlling the game, 17-9.
West Point would begin the second quarter with hot shooting as the Pointers began to inch back into the game off multiple straight three-pointers.
