MHS beats Lancaster in baseball, 5-3

The Mathews High School varsity baseball team picked up its third win on the season on April 22, as the Blue Devils beat their non-district Lancaster Red Devil rivals by a 5-3 margin.
Junior Will Harrington started on his home mound for the Blue Devils and proved superior to his counterpart, as he punched out eight batters over five solid innings while allowing three unearned runs produced by a couple of defensive blunders in the top of the third.
These three runs set up a 3-1 lead for the Red Devils, but a two-RBI single by Marshall Barrack would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. That tie would eventually be broken with two clutch RBI singles by Brett Hogge and Zach Jarosz in the following inning. These two runs would give reliever Brian Owens the margin of victory for the night; he threw 1-2/3 innings, allowing no runs.
This relief performance, along with a single out recorded by Colin Cook, would provide the Blue Devils with the pitching they needed to hold off Lancast...
