The Mathews High School Marching Blue Devils took first-place awards in music, visuals, general effects, color guard and first-place overall among Class A schools at Saturday’s Williamsburg Marching Bands Showcase. The MHS band has a busy week ahead, returning to Wanner Stadium in Williamsburg tonight for the state assessments. At 6 p.m. Friday, the public is invited to come out to the MHS stadium for a Senior Night Exhibition. And on Saturday afternoon, the band will take part in the Kecoughtan Warrior Classic at Darling Stadium in Hampton.
