Fourth-seed Forrest Eversole won her match, 7-5, 6-3, to prevent Menchville from making a clean sweep over Gloucester in tennis play Tuesday. Eversole took the Dukes’ only win over Trisha DeVera.
Gloucester first-seed Christine Riddett lost, 6-0, 6-1, to Claire Spencer, Olivia Edwards at number two fell, 6-4, 6-2, to Violet Hahn and third-seed Kelsey Lineberry lost, 6-3, 6-0, to Racquel Rizzi. Fifth-seed Katie Masiak was defeated, 6-2, 6-0, by Brooke Madden and sixth-seed Jordan Simpson lost, 6-1, 6-2, to Maelyn Platon.
In doubles, Riddett and Edwards were taken down by Spencer and Hahn, 8-0, Lineberry and Masiak were defeated by Rizzi and DeVera, 8-1, and Eversole and Rebecca Bish fought a losing 9-7 battle with Brandt and Goss.
The Gloucester girls are scheduled to play at Kecoughtan today.
