Melisa Marie Harris Buvel, 29, of Newport News, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, in Mary Immaculate Hospital.
She was born in California, and worked as a waitress at Cracker Barrel Restaurant and Red Lobster.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Byard Harris Sr., Linda Thomas, and Howard Hosey.
She is survived by her daughter, Nevaeh Marie Buvel; her mother, Deborah Hosey of Newport News; her father, Byard Harris Jr. and his wife LuAnn of Gloucester; brother, Bryan Harris of Gloucester; the father of her daughter, David Buvel of Gloucester; grandparents, Sarah Harris of Gloucester, Thomas Guenter of Las Vegas, and Linda Hosey of Newport News, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at 7 p.m. in Olive Branch United Methodist Church, Gloucester, by the Rev. Rita Staul.
Memorial donations may be made to a college fund that has been set up for Nevaeh at 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union, 6511 George Washington Memorial Hwy., Gloucester, Va. 23061, Attn. Pam Galganski.
Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, was in charge of arrangements.
