The upcoming Gwynn’s Island bridge maintenance project will be the topic of a public meeting to be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Gwynn’s Island Civic League center, 1996 Old Ferry Road.
The $10.7 million project is designed to improve the condition of the bridge, said a press release, including the mechanical and electrical elements that operate the bridge’s movable swing span. The project will also make spot structural steel repairs and renovate the bridge tender house.
Brief presentations will be delivered at 5 p.m. and 6:30. In addition to the scheduled presentations, which will be identical, Virginia Department of Transportation and contractor staff will be available from 5-8 p.m. to answer questions in an open house format.
