Gloucester and Mathews counties are getting into the holiday spirit with plenty of seasonal events on the docket for the coming week, beginning today with Thanksgiving meals and a turkey trot.
Thanksgiving Day
Abingdon Episcopal Church, Gloucester, will serve its annual community Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 28. All are welcome. There is no charge and no reservations are needed to take part in the luncheon. Babysitting will be available for little ones while parents enjoy their meal.
Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews, will hold its community Thanksgiving dinner today from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., following the church’s 10:30 a.m. service at the parish house on Main Street.
Before filling up on turkey, consider taking part in the Mobjack Rowing Association’s annual Turkey Trot this morning, beginning at 8:30. Walk, run or bike from Williams Wharf Landing to Town Point Landing and back. The route is a little less than four miles. There is no entry...
