The Mathews County Visitor and Information Center will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 29 in response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
According to a press release, the closure is “to protect our volunteers and visitors from the seriousness of the virus.”
Updates regarding local events will be made on the MCVIC Facebook page, website calendar, and blog.
Many restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and businesses in the area are staying open, said the release, and it suggested some actions that could “make a big difference to small business owners during this difficult time.” These include:
Purchase gift cards now and use them later,
Buy items now for future pickup,
Consider food delivery and curbside checkout,
Order online,
Give your favorite businesses reviews on social media,
Keep memberships current at places such as the YMCA that rely on recurring monthly payments,
Ask a business owner you know how you can be of help.
