The Mathews Community Foundation held its 2024 grant awards ceremony last Thursday to recognize the 26 organizations that received a total of 31 grants to help support their charitable endeavors. The total amount awarded was $174,000.
MCF chairman Bill Whitley first thanked the foundation’s donors “for what you do and continue to do.”
“I am constantly amazed by your generosity and willingness to give,” he said.
He then thanked the recipients of the grants—some paid and some volunteer—“for what you do on a daily basis.”
Whitley explained that the Mathews Community Foundation is affiliated with the Richmond Community Foundation, and he recognized the RCF staff members who work with Mathews—Lincoln Boykin, director of affiliates; Ashley Elliott, affiliates associate; and Jonathan Putt, philanthropic adviser, saying they are “instrumental on a daily basis.”
