The Mathews Community Foundation provided direct funding support of over $560,000 during 2023 to local nonprofits, including $170,000 through its annual Community Impact grant program, and another $400,000 through the generosity of local donors.
Organizations such as Mathews County Public Schools, Mathews County Department of Social Services, Hands Across Mathews, and others, received funds through MCF to increase their capacity and provide support to Mathews residents, a release stated.
Foundation expenses are offset by support from local businesses who participate in MCF’s Business Partners Program. Funds received from the business partners are used to support the necessary administrative expenses of the foundation, allowing the availability of all funds collected from individual donors to assist the many local nonprofits as they carry out their missions serving the Mathews community, the release said. Last year, 25 local businesses participated in MCF’s Business Partners program.
