The Mathews Community Foundation recently held a reception at the Church of Francis de Sales in Mathews for 25 nonprofit organizations that were awarded a 2022 Community Impact Grant.
Ron Lambert, the foundation board’s chairman, opened the meeting with a welcome for the grantees and guests.
“Even though we couldn’t be together for this event the last two years, the foundation has been working diligently on increasing our grant funds and sending funds out to many of the groups during the pandemic,” he said.
Liz Hospodar, the MCF Grant Committee Chairperson, announced the 35 grants, with some organizations receiving more than one.
This year, the Community Impact Grants totaled nearly $158,000—a record, said a press release. The foundation’s mission is to “improve the quality of life for those living and working in Mathews.” It is able to continue to serve the Mathews community because of donations by members of the community and local businesses.
