Mathews High School graduate Norfleet Lewis is this year’s recipient of the Betty and Jim Kenley Citizen Award. The $1,000 scholarship is given by the Mathews County Democratic Committee. Lewis, who placed first earlier this year in the category of poetry in the Virginia High School League Forensics State Championships, will attend Bennington College in the fall.
