May Faire 2023, to be presented May 6 by the Mathews Historical Museum, will have as its theme “Celebrating Mathews Teachers and Schools.”
As part of the celebration, the museum is seeking photographs and information about county residents, past and present, who worked as public school teachers.
In addition, the museum is looking for photographs and information about schools from the past, and of various school activities.
A release from the museum said these photographs will be on display in the museum for May Faire, and will also be compiled into an electronic database for use at the museum, which is located at 200 Main Street. The release said all original photos will be copied and returned to the owner.
The museum is also looking for school memorabilia such as old yearbooks, school newspapers, vintage textbooks, or other items that were found in the classroom. These items will be used in a school exhibit in the museum. At the close of the exhibit these items will be returned to the...
