May 1 is the deadline to apply for scholarships awarded annually by the Guinea Heritage Association.
A release from GHS said students of all ages are invited to apply, and can find details and application forms on the website www.guineaheritage.org. Information is under a tab “Scholarship.”
The release said GHS will make these awards: the annual GHA Scholarship, the C.B. Rowe Memorial Scholarship, the Mac Sisson Technical/Professional Scholarship—each for $1,000, and the Kenneth A. Hall Scholarship—$5,000.
Applications can be mailed directly to GHA Scholarship Committee, Attn: Sharon Zuber, P.O. Box 411, Bena, Va. 23018 or as an attachment to and email: guineaheritage@gmail.com.
The release said GHA celebrates the people and traditions of a unique community in Gloucester County renowned for the men and women who work on the water. Applicants with connections to Guinea are given scholarship priority.
