Children’s book author Maurine Frank of Mathews will be the guest speaker at a Saturday Social from 5-7 p.m. this Saturday, July 13, at the RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The free event is a joint presentation by the Writers Guild of Virginia and Rappahannock Art League. It will feature a panel discussion on what makes a captivating children’s book and the steps aspiring writers can take to get started. Award-winning author and educator Ann Eichenmuller will host the panel. The program includes light refreshments and live music by Eric Eichenmuller.
Frank’s books, praised for their engaging stories and beautiful illustrations, focus on encouraging affirmations and outdoor activities centered on discovering the beautiful world, said a press release, adding that they were both best sellers on Amazon. Her passion for writing and love for children has inspired her to share her knowledge and experience with others interested in writing for children.
