A funeral for Maurice William Ruckman Sr., 59, of Hayes, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester. He died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1952 in Cumberland, Md., to the late Elizabeth Norma Lee Ruckman. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Corporal, then made his home in Hayes. He worked as a painter and then worked in the Air Launch Division at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, from which he retired.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Faye Ruckman; two sons, Maurice W. Ruckman Jr. and Eric Ruckman; two daughters, Debbie Shelton and Sherry Ruckman Tyson; a brother, Charles M. Ruckman of Gloucester; seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. 

The Rev. Barbara Gibbs conducted the service. Burial was in Gloucester Point Cemetery with military honors.
