The Mathews Yacht Club celebrated its 75th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Diamond Jubilee event was held on-site at the Mathews Yacht Club on Stutts Creek. Club members enjoyed a nautical-themed dinner including an oyster roast, steamed crabs, and a variety of food stations. The club’s full-service bar provided signature cocktails for the event.
The beautiful weather was perfect for celebrating both inside and out, with some members arriving by boat to attend the festivities. Members ended the evening gathered around the firepit.
Entertainment was provided by the Live Mics Band, with music and dancing on the club’s new deck/dance floor and enclosed porch.
Chartered on June 2, 1949, the club was created by and for its members. Those members have brought the club from an informal “boating club” with no facilities to its present position as one of the premier clubs on the southern Chesapeake Bay.
