Mathews VA250 Committee hosts May 15 concert

The Courthouse Community Orchestra will perform a concert to memorialize the 248th anniversary of Virginia’s declaration as a free and independent state at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, on the Mathews historic court green at Main Street and Brickbat Road.
The free concert is hosted by the Mathews VA250 Committee, which invites the Mathews community, neighbors, and friends to attend and help celebrate the important anniversary.
The orchestra will play traditional American music through the ages to commemorate Virginia’s place in history, said the release.
Those attending are welcome to arrive at 6 p.m. and bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets. If it rains, the concert will be moved to Thomas Hunter Middle School.
