Mathews Triad’s annual Senior Safety Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, 7138 Buckley Hall Road, Hudgins.
Admission is $3, including a continental breakfast and a hot lunch of baked chicken, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and dessert.
Event organizers Lt. Sid Foster of the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office and Alice Stewart of Mathews Social Services have an exciting lineup of guest speakers.
Nicholas Proffit of the Virginia Attorney General’s Office will discuss fraud involving seniors and will provide information on how the attorney general’s office can help victims. He will highlight other programs, as well.
Robert Brooks of the Heritage Law Group will speak on estate planning and elder law, and Sherri Hogge of Chesapeake Bank will discuss financial fraud and scams.
Finally, Christian Collier, supervisor of the Mathews E-911 Dispatch Center, will talk about the new Smart 911 system and will sign people up for service.
