Mathews to gather Tuesday for National Night Out

Mathews County residents are invited to come together on Tuesday night at Mathews High School’s Ken Brown Field for National Night Out, an evening filled with games, activities, music and food—all completely free of charge.
The program will be held from 4-8 p.m. Organized by the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office with funding from the Mathews Community Foundation and local sponsors, the event is a way to bring the community and law enforcement together in a casual, fun-filled environment, according to Sgt. Julianna Berry of MCSO.
National Night Out in Mathews is one of thousands of such events that will be held across the nation the same night. According to the national event website, the first National Night Out was organized by the Pennsylvania-based National Association of Town Watch in 1984 to create better relationships among community members and law enforcement agencies.
