The Mathews County Board of Supervisors has four public hearings on the agenda for its Tuesday board meeting, which will be held at 1 p.m. virtually on the Zoom platform. The meeting will be shared live at www.facebook.com/MathewsCountyVA and on the county’s website at http://mathewscountyva.gov/355/Meeting-Portal.
Three of the public hearings were continued from the November meeting. They concern increasing the transient occupancy tax from 2 percent to 5 percent, increasing fees for criminal and traffic cases, and updating the voter registrar’s address to the new location. There will also be a public hearing on the continuity of government ordinance.
The board expects to consider three items of old business: a compensation and classification plan developed by Virginia Tech, the county’s Flood Plain Ordinance update, and a review of the CARES Act budget.
