The Mathews County Board of Supervisors heard from various county departments during the board’s organizational meeting on Jan. 8. Some department heads discussed their jobs and responsibilities, some provided their budget requests, and some did both. Electoral Board The Electoral Board, which is anticipating a very active election season, asked for funding to make the assistant registrar a full-time position, with a salary of $26,000 and overtime of $1,800. Registrar Carla Faulkner said that, including full-time employee costs, the total increase in the budget for the office of the registrar would be $15,900. However, she said that this amount will likely be almost completely offset by the state, since the governor’s budget calls for the state to fully fund the general registrar and electoral board beginning this year.
